The big book news this week is I finally got my 500 Books Reviewed Badge from Netgalley! You can see it displayed on my home page, as well as right here!
Busy week at work, but yesterday I had some downtime. Doug and I went to a local bookstore and I picked up signed books from two indie authors and got to chat with them a little bit. Then we went to a local “Spring Sale” at the Fairgrounds and I picked up yet another Vera Bradley purse. You can never have too many, right? I like the small, wallet-sized purses with the cross-body strap.
When we got home, the winds started really picking up and eventually the power went out for about three hours. It’s back on and things seem calmed down outside.
WHAT’S FOR DINNER?
Because our local Chinese restaurants have been disappointing lately, I decided to make Lo Mein (Doug’s favorite) myself. I’ll let you know how it turns out. I’m also making shrimp cauliflower fried rice for me, and I picked up some SeaPak Shrimp Eggrolls. My cousin Beth told me about these and they are great. No need to make my own right now. They crisp right up in the air fryer.
How about you? How was your week?
LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG
Due to a super busy week at work, I couldn’t post as much, but I participated in WWW Wednesday and Book Blogger Hop. On Saturday I reviewed Birds in Flight for Indie Weekend.
NEXT WEEK ON THE BLOG
I will participate in WWW Wednesday and Book Blogger Hop if time permits. I’m also going to have at least three reviews ready to post:

On Saturday and Sunday I’ll do a review and a spotlight for Indie weekend.
BOOK HAUL

Another Daughter of Sherlock Holmes mystery. This one’s about a missing prince.

Two sisters who inherit their aunt’s house find out a family secret.

It’s a historical time travel novel, which is my favorite, and it’s set in three timelines.

I did a spotlight for this one recently, but I just got the Netgalley ARC as well.
Congrats on the 500 reviews! I haven’t been to a bookstore in so long. I love browsing bookstores, whether I end up buying anything or not. Fun on the new Vera Bradley! I am such a purse collector. Just yesterday I was considering buying a new one. I might hit up a TJ Maxx today and check out their selection.

Thanks! I am the same when it comes to purses. I have way more purses than I will ever need. I like to buy the Vera Bradleys from booths at events and festivals because they are usually half price. Although I get mostly ebooks these days, I enjoy going to bookstores that celebrate indie authors.

Congratulations on your NetGalley badge, Bonnie! Very impressive!! This week, I made good progress on the second developmental edit for my novel-in-progress. Yesterday I spent the day digging out the old caulk for the upstairs bathtub.

Thanks! That badge took a while! Are you doing a bathroom remodel?

You’re welcome! We did a bathroom when we first bought the house, but we’ve been here so long now that the tub needs recaulking.

CONGRATS on the 500 badge!!!! That is fantastic! It does take a while since the last one we get is the 200 one right? I should have mine soon, I just don’t read as many ARC’s as I used to haha. Wind is something I am glad we don’t deal with ever haha But I know how bad it can get.

Thanks! Yes it does take a while! Where do you live that there’s no high winds?

Great job on the 500 badge! Because we are gluten free, and we don’t want to go out since COVID, I’ve learned to make things like Shrimp Pad Thai and other things we like. It’s fun and less expensive, and easier than I expected.

Thanks. I don’t think they have badges higher than 500 which is unfortunate because know some people on Goodreads that have 2000 Netgalley reviews already.

Oh wow congratulations on your 500 reviews! I am so far from it on NG!

Thanks. I started Netgalley in 2019, so it’s taken three years. Some of the books are shorter kids books and cookbooks too.

That’s funny, it’s been the same here with Chinese restaurants. Other than an always excellent one across town the local ones have been disappointing lately. Good to know about thse shrimp eggrolls too- I’ve seen seaPak but never trued them.

I was wondering if it was because of the staffing problem many restaurants seem to be having these days, but the quality has gone way down. Seapak shrimp eggrolls are delicious.
