Doug and I started going through my extensive glassware collection yesterday. We went through several boxes in the basement, deciding which ones I wanted to keep, sell, or give away. The keep pile was smaller than I thought it would be. Once we had the keep pile, Doug took pictures of everything and I created a document with pictures and descriptions, and we filled up our first crate, to go into storage at our retirement house. So we made some progress! The sell pile is pretty large, and I have to decide if I’m going to go the Ebay route or another route. It’s mostly glassware, a lot of it collectible like moon & stars. Any suggestions appreciated.
The hard part will be going through what I have displayed right now and see if I want to sell any of it. I have quite a bit on display. I have an extensive jadeite collection that I’m keeping. The picture is below. Ignore the mess and the non-jadeite. This is just a tiny bit of the glassware that I have.
LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG
On Monday, I participated in “It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?”
On Thursday, I reviewed the audiobook of Bright Lights, Big Christmas.
On Friday I participated in Book Blogger Hop.
On Saturday I reviewed Growing a Top-Notch Family Tree by Nancy Blodgett Klein for Indie Weekend.
NEXT WEEK ON THE BLOG
I’m trying very hard to catch up, so Indie Weekend may show up in the middle of the week! In addition, I hope to review The Bakery at Clamshell Bay audiobook by Sarah Jane Bailey Five Years After, by William Forstchen, Enola Holmes and the Mark of the Mongoose by Nancy Springer, and Christmas Presents by Lisa Unger.
BOOK HAUL
I was very excited to get The Exchange: After The Firm, by John Grisham, a revisit to the main character of the novel The Firm 15 years later.
I started reading it right away, but sadly it’s been underwhelming. Not what I expected at all. Maybe it will get better.
Sad Passing: Farewell to Jimmy Buffett. Doug introduced me to his music in 1980 when we were in high school and we were huge fans. RIP, Son of a Son of a Sailor.
Hope you all had a wonderful week.
I found Facebook Marketplace to be a good option for some things especially if they are heavy or breakable. There aren’t all the fees of ebay and it tends to be local. I hope it goes well.

It’s been a long time since I read John Grisham. I have to get back to his books.
Good luck with going through your stuff.
Have a great week!

I am not as happy with this one as I thought I would be.

RIP, Jimmy Buffet:( FB marketplace is a good place to start, like Northwoman said, Bonnie. Several years ago, I had a ‘yard sale’ and unloaded lots of things, including depression glass, etc. But I lived on a busy road where things sold easily.

I’ll check it out.

Kudos on your progress toward retirement living! I was saddened to hear of Jimmy Buffett’s death as well. We need feel-good music from time to time.

Thanks Greg! I need to look at it as an adventure and not a chore. Hope you had a good weekend.

You have a lovely collection – but I think slimming it down now is a very good idea. Best of luck with selling it off and have a great week, Bonnie.

When I look at what some of my pieces are selling for in this economy, I have decided to wait, store a lot of them, and rotate what I display in my house. I’m not giving my pieces away.

You’re doing a good job of adjusting to your new residence, Bonnie, organized and realistic. You’re also doing a good job at your reviews. That will take a hit during your move, but that’s life. I hope Jimmy Buffett is resting easy.

I still have a year to go, and since I’ve owned my retirement house for 15 years, I can move things a little at a time.

I’ve been meaning to sell some things myself, but I can never find the right place to sell my stuff.

Plus in this economy it seems I’m not able to get my investment back out of it.

I have also found Grisham’s recent novels disappointing.

This one especially because it was supposed to be a continuation of The Firm.

RIP Jimmy Buffet. I was so sad.
Your jadeite is beautiful. I’m glad you’re keeping it.
Too bad about the Grisham book. I’ll borrow rather than buy.

It could just be me, but I wasn’t impressed. Borrowing would be a good idea.

My sister and I will soon have to take on sorting through the glassware and statuettes my mom collected over the years. Most of it isn’t to my taste and can go, it’s just finding the time to sort through it and the means to get rid of it. The Lisa Unger book sounds good, I love Christmas Thrillers. I’ll check it out.
