Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
I think this is going to be an easy list for me. Top Ten Things That Make Me Want To Read a Book:

- Church. The Bible of course.
- A Time Travel Theme.
- My Favorite Author Releases Her Next Book. Jodi Taylor, who also writes two different time travel series. Go figure.
- A Cup of Coffee
- An Overflowing TBR
- The Power Goes Out. No more computer or tv, and I instantly pick up a book. Hopefully my Kindle is charged.
- A brand new book comes in the mail and it’s so much more attractive than my other books because of its newness.
- Laying down in bed. That always makes me want to read, but I fall asleep quickly.
- Snow Days. I always read The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder
- July. When it’s super hot outside, I always read a Christmas book so I’m reminded of trees and holly and cold, cold snow.
How about you? What makes you instantly want to read a book?
It’s super hot here most of the year, so reading Christmas books sounds like a good way to beat the heat!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

For me there’s only one or two but I’ll drop everything to read them.

A new book by a favorite author is always a kind of comfort type read that I’m always excited to read. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my website today! I appreciate this very much.

This is a really fun take on the prompt! A snowy or rainy day always makes me want to read too. And there’s nothing like a fresh cup of coffee and a few minutes to read!

Depending on what I’m currently reading, it’s nice to fall asleep reading–definitely helps the insomnia and potential nightmares! Great list.

Yes to quite a few of these! A snow day or laying in bed always makes me want to read, as do power outages, since it removes so many of the distractions that make me stop reading.

Soon as the power goes out, my husband and I pick up books.

It’s usually the author that makes me read a book immediately. I love your list.

Thanks Tessa. For me it’s Jodi Taylor. I’ll drop whatever I’m doing to read her books.

I enjoy a time travel theme, even though it’s been ages since I read one. I’d love to read in bed but it never works. If I’m in bed I’m asleep in minutes. LOL

If you ever want to read a good one, read The Chronicles of St. Mary’s series by Jodi Taylor. First book is Just One Damned Thing After Another. There are 14 books plus short stories.

Ha ha I definitely always pick up a book when the power goes out, or the Internet is down, as long as my phone is charged to use as a torch! I also definitely always want to pick up new books by my favourite authors. I always used to read before going to bed, but now I find that usually as soon as I’m in bed, I’m falling asleep!

There are many times the power goes out and my phone is not charged! Poor planning.

Oh I definitely had that when I was in South Africa, so many times when the power went out (they have regular power cuts to help with the demand on the electricity grid) I wouldn’t have charged my laptop or phone and they would die on me in the two hour period whilst the power was out!
