The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

It truly doesn’t matter. I guess because I grew up with seven brothers and sisters, I am used to noise. I also have some hearing loss, so things are a bit quieter for me than they might be for others anyway. I think reading with music in the background can be nice as well.
What about you? What is your preferred setting? Quiet or Noisy?

This is good question, Bonnie. I’m curious about what others will say. In our house, we have music playing in the background all-day-long…lol. So whether reading or writing, it would be too much of a distraction if it was dead silence.
I do enjoy a good tune in the background sometimes
Maybe that’s it. I’m the oldest of six and have always been a reader. Perhaps that’s where I learned my superpower of blocking out background noise.
That’s probably it. Big families and noise go hand in hand.
I prefer it quiet to read.
My husband does too, though he generally prefers it quiet all the time.
I prefer it quiet all the time as well.
I prefer quiet but a little noise won’t bother me.
I like some music in the background too.
I find even when there isn’t music, I’ve got a song playing in my head. Does anyone else do that?
I like it quiet, Bonnie. I studied music decades ago, so I can’t have background music for anything. I end up just listening to the music and breaking down its composition in my head. 🙂
That is interesting. I never thought about that.
It’s kind of crazy. I end up determining the chord progressions and stuff like that. Whatever I was doing gets put on the back burner. 🙂
I used to be able to read while doing different things and noise didn’t bother me, but as I have gotten older and my ADD is worse, I need it to be quiet or I listen to other things and get distracted.
That’s totally understandable.
Very loud conversations disturb me as does music I don’t like. I usually read in the same room my family are in so I have to tune out a fair amount of noise

I prefer quiet, but now I’m wondering if I wouldn’t mind having music on while I’m reading. Something to consider! 🙂
I can do both. It takes me a bit to get focused but once I get in the zone, the noise kind of fades away.
