Answer: A bookworm I guess. I guess a reader could be anyone who reads, and a bookworm loves books, so I would definitely say I’m the latter. The dictionary definition defines a bookworm as “someone unusually devoted to reading and study,” so I guess that’s me, minus the “study” part. My reading is for fun.
I will say with Netgalley I used to find myself reading to meet a deadline if I didn’t enjoy the book, but now I will DNF that book in a heartbeat because my reading must be fun.
How about you? Are you a bookworm or a reader? Also, how do you feel about DNFing a book if you aren’t enjoying it?
I love to read and write book reviews in my free time. I review advance review copies of books on Netgalley for various publishers. I am also a reviewer for Historical Novels Review Magazine, the magazine of the Historical Novel Society. I review books from publishers of all size, large to small. I have a special place in my heart for indie authors. I will sometimes post a little writing that I might dabble in occasionally. I also am lucky enough to live in the Smoky Mountains, so I'll be sharing photos of the beauty around me from time to time.

I am definitely a bookworm based on the description. I also enjoy studying, and I learn something from just about every book I read. I always say that I’m not well-educated but I am well-read. I seldom DNF a book but I have a couple of times. I just don’t have time to finish a book I dislike or find upsetting.

I do require that I learn something from all the historical fiction I read, so I guess in a way that’s studying.

I’ve become the same way with NetGalley books. If I’m not enjoying a book then thank you but no thank you.

Well, I would like to leave a reply to the original question, but I do agree w/ you, Tessa. But I would propose a third category besides reader and bookworm. I am a journeyman/woman b/c I translate and edit for a living, generally not for pleasure. But reading to learn, Bonnie, I am totally with you on that! Still, I tend to dissect sentences and rolls words around in my mouth to see if they convey what I think the author originally intended. Comes from being a translator and editor. Ergo, I am pretty selective as to what I will read for pleasure b/c I just don’t have the time!
Shalom! and Cheers!

I would like to read more books but I fall asleep after a few pages when I read at nighttime, which is usually when I get a chance to read. As an author, I don’t like to get influenced by others. so I am hesitant to read too many newer books.
On the flipside of that, I started reading a book that was eerily similar to one of my new projects, so I had to scrap it. Luckily, I wasn’t in too deep.

I’m a bookworm, according to the definition. I almost always enjoy reading, and often look up and study things I come across in a book. I seldom DNF a book, but have, even returned a couple of eBooks to Amazon.

I’ve always loved books, but my bookworm days were when I was a kid. As an adult, I have too many other competing priorities, particularly writing.

Based on your description, I am a bookworm. You will find me with a book everywhere and reading or listening whenever I can. I have always been a reader, but as all those things that kept me busy have changed, (kids are grown and on their own, I’m retired, my husband has passed) so I read more than ever before.
