Truth be told, I have a terrible sense of direction and get disoriented everywhere. But there is a delightfully dusty Moody Bookstore in Johnson City, TN, and it has endless shelves that are not well-lighted. Some are not lighted at all. Getting turned around in there is common, and a treat because while getting lost, you find some lost treasures. It’s not your typical books and coffee place. The books are not the newest or latest thing. There’s no coffee. But It’s a blast from the past that is still around, and if ever I were going to write about a magical bookstore, this would be the setting.
How about you? Are there any bookstores that stand out for you? Or that you’ve gotten lost in?
Never been lost, Bonnie, but Barnes & Noble had a Starbucks, and I could sure get sidetracked in there. 😀

It is an enticing prospect. There’s this gigantic bookstore in Bucharest, Cărtureşti. It has a few rows of balconies and one level underground. There, I feel lost as I tend to forget what’s where, on book genre. 🙂 Not that that’s a problem though. 😉

I’ve never been lost in a bookstore. The ones I’ve been in have been too small. My favorite local indie bookstore didn’t survive Covid. 🙁
The COVID pandemic ended so many small businesses. I’m really surprised the bookstore here survived.
Here, too. So many family businesses in the hospitality industry had to just throw in the towel. Such a shame. These small businesses had been in the family for multiple generations.

Now I really must make a point of visiting Moody Bookstore if I ever make it to Tennessee. It sounds like such a magical and wonderful place! I would love to get lost there.
I miss the magical bookshop in Maldon, Essex, England. It was wonderful. The shop sold new and second hand books. It was in an old house. Each room was a different genre. If you asked the owner they knew just where to find the book you wanted. The shop closed when the owner passed away.

So, I don’t usually get “lost”. But I worked at a Barnes & Noble until right until the pandemic, so like almost 20 years. They redid all the shelving and where they put sections after I left, and now when I go in to shop I can’t find anything. And I hate it! lol. Fun topic! Here’s my latest discussion post:
