The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Absolutely! I’ve gotten to know a lot of authors from reviewing books, and I follow their social media. Two of them especially became dear friends. You know who you are, Gail and Louise! You can learn more about these wonderful authors by clicking on their name.
If I review a book I especially like, I keep track of the author on social media so I can request their next book.
I also see a lot of poignant posts on author sites. Liz Gauffreau wrote a book review yesterday that blew me away. Joy Neal Kidney provides fascinating posts about the history of Iowa and her family. They are also both fantastic authors. There are so many others whose posts I follow and enjoy.
I also help promote them by retweeting, sharing, etc. That is part of making my page a community of writers, reviewers, and readers who support each other.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Bonnie!!!

Thank you, Bonnie! When I set out on this scary journey a couple years ago, I never expected to meet so many wonderful people and treasured friends along the way, readers and authors. (You and Louise top the list!) It made me realize that we are all in this together, helping each other out with the same goals, whether it’s finding a good book to read or writing one. I hate to say, but thank goodness for social media:)

I love following my favourite authors too. It’s always great to see what they are up to and learn about their next publication. I also learn from them!

Yes, when I really get hooked on a series, I want to know exactly when the next book is coming out!

I applaud your passion and dedication, you have helped so many authors by shining a light over and over again on their work. Thank you so greatly!
And I have meet awesome authors as well, like you have indicated Gail. The help and support are precious.

I follow several favorite authors on Facebook and although my interactions with them are limited, I really enjoy the insights from seeing what they share.

There are a lot of great author sites on Facebook. It’s a great place for authors and readers to interact.

I use Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Instagram is my #1 spot where I connect with my favorite authors, I like to find out what they are coming out with next and chatting about the books they have already published.

Facebook is where my favorite author, Jodi Taylor, has her fan site, so that’s the one I visit most as a fan.

I follow a few authors on SM, but rarely interact with them. I know I should do that more often.

I used to follow authors much more aggressively than I do now…but with Facebook’s algorithms even seeing the posts of the people that I do follow is almost like a shot in the dark.
Have a great weekend.

I’m so glad that social media works well for you, Bonnie. That’s exactly what I would like social media to do for me and for authors.

I think blogging here on WordPress really opened up the door for meeting authors and readers and reaching out to other sites.
