The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION

Most of the time, no. But there is an exception. When Jodi Taylor comes out with a new book in her St. Mary’s Chronicles or Time Police series, I will listen to at least one book prior on Audible. I also re-listen to the entire series at least every couple of years. It’s like visiting old friends.
What about you? Do you go back and re-read the previous book when the next book in a series is coming out?
I read books in a series when I was younger, but not anymore. At that time, I didn’t reread a previous one before reading the next one.

You only read standalones? Sometimes those are hard to find these days. Everyone wants a series.

Yes. Occasionally, I’ll read a book and its sequel, but I mostly read standalones.

I like that rereading those two series is that comforting for you (like visiting old friends). I don’t have the time or patience for rereading unfortunately

I’ve the same with some tv series. Like Gilmore Girls. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched all the seasons.

I watch Gilmore Girls every night before I go to sleep. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looped through. So many that I’ve started feeling sorry for Emily and can see how many of her bad reactions are due to emotional pain rather than be uncaring.

Not at all! I love series, but especially if each book is a stand-alone. If they’re a trilogy, I wait until they’re all out and then buy all three.

That’s smart. Then you don’t have to wait to see what happens.

Normally, I would say no, but, if it has been a long time since I read the previous book, I may reread it or at least skim to refresh my memory. I often buy a book, but don’t read it right away if I know there is going to be a sequel. I will wait for the next book.

That’s brilliant to buy and wait

I will reread or at least skim read a book if it’s been a while since the previous book, and it’s not a series where each book can be a stand alone.

That’s a good idea. We read so many books it’s hard for me to keep all the series straight sometimes.

Lol. I have to reread the books I’ve written in series. It’s amazing what you forget. Reading wise, no I don’t tend to. Unless I have a paperback handy and I may take a look to refresh my memory.
