Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Goals for 2024

Top Ten Tuesday is run by That Artsy Reader Girl. There is a new topic each week. This week’s topic is Bookish Goals for 2024. I don’t have ten right now, but my goals are below.

Review Some Classics

I’m going to be reading or re-reading some Jane Austen classics and posting reviews. Plus I want to re-read some of the books I had to read in high school and see what I think of them now. In high school I thought most of them were SOOOOOO boring.

Read/Review More Romance

Romance is not my go-to genre, but I’m going to read more this year because so many people love this genre and I need to share a little more of that genre with the readers of this blog. I’ve also opened up Indie acceptances to the romance genre. A lot of them will probably be historical romances, because historical fiction is my go-to.

Get back to writing!

Doug and I kind of took last year off. We needed to put our creative hats back on, get going again, and share some of our writing on this blog.

More author interviews!

Do More Author Q&As. I really enjoy these and didn’t do them as much last year.

Take on less books (yeah, right!)

Take less books at a time! I’ve already broken this one, but I can dream!

What about you? Do you have any bookish goals for the year? Either reading, writing, reviewing, or all of the above?

  1. Rereading some of the classic Jane Austen novels is quite a thought, Bonnie. I think you’ll see them differently now. Lots of things that I thought were boring in my teen years really appeal to me now. We’ll see. 😊

    1. I don’t think I got to read Jane Austen in high school. The ones I remember thinking were boring were Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby, and a few others. Audible had some of these for free for members, and I’m already blown away by what I’ve listened to of The Great Gatsby. The others will probably be the same. For Jane Austen books, I’ve read Pride and Prejudice but there are some I’ve not read.

  2. All of the above in 2 categories: writing (goal to published book #4 in 2024) and still take time to read/review because I know the value of a review so I try my best that they go together. I do look forward to read what you and Doug will present us. 😊

  3. Great list!

I actually enjoyed reading classics a lot in school, but when I revisit them as an adult my enjoyment is SO MUCH greater. In the rare instances when it’s not, it’s still interesting to see why. But IMO Jane Austen always holds up 100%!

I’m also trying to be more open to romance reading. I’ve been dismissive of the genre in the past, I think partly due to stereotypes and partly due to the fact that other things seemed to grab my attention more. But I’m starting to realize how much wonderful stuff is there!

  4. My goal last year was to read a book a week. I thought that was really manageable, but I was 12 books short at the end of the year. I just told myself it was still a lot of books for somebody who doesn’t have much time for reading and pretty much zonks out after the first paragraph when she finds the time. 🙂

  5. I’m trying to take on less review books too! I can’t decide if I’m going to try writing anymore or not. But occasionally I have the urge to work or rework some stories I’ve started. Hope you get all your goals met!
