Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. There is a new topic every week. For Thanksgiving week in the U.S., here are the Top Ten Reasons I’m Thankful for Books

- As a Christian, #1 will always be that the Bible introduced me to God and to Jesus.

How about you? What are you most thankful for when it comes to books?

Beautiful reasons, Bonnie. I like how you structured them.
My Top reasons why I love reading is because I learn new things and it is extremely relaxing.
I agree it’s relaxing, although some books have raised my blood pressure on occasion!
When well written, a book opens vistas for reader never before considered. I love the challenge, the new universes and panoramas. When a well developed character is successfully portrayed, the author becomes a full-fledged artist and the reader has no option but to wonder in awe. Nothing is better for the soul than exploring what makes us human. In the words of a very distant cousin, Alfred Habdank Skarbek Korzybski, we are, after all, the only time-binding species on earth. Art, books — and now films — have granted us that facility.
Very cool quote.
I will always and forever be thankful for books. They have introduced me to new worlds and cultures, made me fall in love over and over, and given me wonderful lifetime friends. Books have entertained and educated me, healed wounds and made dreams come true. They have caused me to laugh out loud and to cry uncontrollably. And most of all, they have taught me empathy and understanding. Without the books I have read, I would not be who I am today.
And you have introduced us to new cultures through your Amanda series, which, for anyone who hasn’t read it, is awesome.
Thank you so much!! That is so kind of you to say.
Great list, Bonnie. I love being able to share books and my love of reading with my grandkids.
Yes, another reason I love books!
Great reasons and I love how you included different books to support each one. It’s amazing how many things reading allows you to learn, experience, and enjoy!
Happy TTT!

I agree! I have enjoyed your great writing so much!
Thank you, Bonnie. I’m very glad to hear it!
I’m thankful for everything that books have taught me. I love being a know-it-all. 🙂
Ha Ha!
What great reasons to be thankful for books!
Thank you! I enjoyed your list.
I love how Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings and St. Mary’s Chonicles repeats:)
My favorites for sure.
Great reasons! I am obsessed with the Empyrean series atm, I am very thankful for that (but not the wait for bk3!)
Empyrean is the next big thing, I think. I hear here’s going to be a TV series.
I like the way you did this. St. Mary’s Chronicles series has been on my TBR for a long time and I definitely plan to tackle it in 2024 because I love time travel!
I did 10 books I was grateful for this year: https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2023/11/21/top-ten-tuesday-books-i-was-thankful-for-in-2023/
I love all the amazing characters and lands I get to visit in books! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I love books because they allow me to meet new people and visit new places, all without leaving the comfort of my own house.

Yes, yes, and yes ten times over! It makes you wonder how any one can’t love reading.
As for me, I am very thankful for books. They have provided me with learning experiences, in engineering, science, astrophysics, languages, history, as well entertainment, imaginary experiences, the sharing of experiences, and escapism. In other words, books have given me a much richer life.
I really like your list this week – you did it really similar to mine in listing the book and why you’re grateful for it. I have to agree with all of your books and reasons – they’re great! My favorites are that we get to visit cool lands, meet incredible characters, and learn about important people and events in history!
