Book Blogger Hop: Are You Reading more Ebooks?

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blogs.

I’ve been reading mostly ebooks for a long time. That increased, of course, during COVID when fewer print books were sent out to bloggers. However, I have been asking to have print copies sent to me more lately because I’ve been trying to create Instagram reels, which by the way I’m not very good at 🙂

Another interesting fact: I have never been able to read print books in the car. I always get carsick. But I can read ebooks in the car without getting sick. I have no idea why.

How about you? Ebook or Print?

          1. I think that’s the case which is why I wonder if a paperlight kindle might be better. I don’t want to spend the money to find out that it’s no different though. 😃😃

            1. I thought they were all the same, but I don’t pay too much attention to such things, so I could be wrong. I do know I prefer to have the ‘nightlight’ setting on my tablet permanently rather than just set for the nighttime hours. (It might also be called “eye care”. I think different devices call it different things.)

      1. Yes. I’ve seen that. I use the kindle app on my iPad to read. I don’t know if an actual kindle would be better as the screen is different especially on the paper white version I think

  1. My preference is definitely for real books, but now that you mention that fun fact about reading in the car, I realize that I tend to choose an ebook in the car. Easier to take along with me, and I don’t have to worry about lighting.

  2. I haven’t been reading ebooks much at all in a long time. I have a zillion of them, but I’ve been preferring print books for several months now. Maybe because I’m trying to cull the print books I own that I need to read before deciding if they’re keepers. Also I’m trying to catch up on my library print TBR list. Part of it is also that I’ve been watching tv on my tablet, which means I can’t do anything else on my tablet at that time, so I need a print book if I need something to keep me focused during commercials or boring parts.

  3. For years now my e-book reading has way surpassed my print book reading, but this year it seems to be going the other way. I am not sure why.

I am sorry to hear you can’t read print books while riding in the car. My daughter gets headaches when she tries, sadly. When my husband is driving, I have to read with my head down or else I will have a panic attack the way he drives. Said tongue in cheek, but it’s partially true. :-S

I hope you have a great weekend!

  4. I read both eBooks and printed books but I usually prefer the printed versions. First because they are so easy to carry around. Well a cell phone is easy to carry around too but I don’t like reading eBooks on cell phones, I want a big screen like a computer or iPad. Second because printed books are so easy on my eyes. I am staring too much at screens as it is and it hurts after a while. Thirdly because I think they are easier to flip back and forth in and to underline in, and in addition when you are done they are easy to keep as sort of a trophy on your bookshelf. But eBooks have their advantages too.

  5. Yeah Covid really messed up my game of receiving books in the mail. I miss that so much! Oddly, I am someone who can read in the car. Granted I do have times where I can’t, but if I take a long road trip and someone else is doing the driving, I always bring a book along with me!

    Thanks for visiting my BBH!
