The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at the @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news and a post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See the rules here.
I’m continuing with the new diet plan and I’ve lost 7 pounds so far, and I’ll weigh in again tomorrow. There’s a long way to go, but it’s a step in the right direction. The garden we planted recently is starting to grow and we’ve got some squash blossoms already and a few flowers on the tomatoes. It’s great to see efforts being rewarded.

Happy Father’s Day to my husband Doug, the rock of our family. I mentioned he had been painting his car, and it’s finished. I’m really proud of him.

I was in Blowing Rock, NC on the Blue Ridge Parkway the other day, and here are some pictures from an overlook. I’m blessed to live in such a beautiful area.

LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG
Things were a bit quieter on the blog this past week as I was busily finishing up reviews for the August edition of Historical Novels Review, the magazine of the Historical Novel Society. I will share the covers of some of the books I reviewed soon. I can’t post the reviews until after the magazine is published.
Monday I reviewed The Lives of Diamond Bessie by Jody Hadlock.
Wednesday I posted an excerpt of Bonds by Marie Ann Cope.
Self-Published Saturday I posted a review of Death at Dusbar College by Laura DiNovis Berry.
NEXT WEEK ON THE BLOG
Monday I will share the covers of the books I’ve been reviewing for the Historical Novel Society the past few months.
Wednesday I will review A Rip Through Time by Kelley Armstrong

On Friday I will review The Hurricanes of Weakerville by Chris Rylander

On Self-Published Saturday I plan to review Downfall by Caleb Ward.

BOOKS I RECEIVED THIS WEEK:
A DRESS OF VIOLET TAFFETA by Tessa Arlen from Random House for an Austenprose blog tour.

Have a great week everyone!
Congratulations on all the good news, Bonnie! Indeed, hard work does pay off, and I really enjoyed your lovely Blue Ridge Parkway photographs! Have a pleasant Sunday my friend. 🙏🏻😊

Thanks Gail. I’ll email you the plan I’m on. Of course I have many, many more pounds to lose than 7. I’ll pass your Father’s Day greeting on to Doug.

I’m glad the new diet is working well for you. 🙂 I hope it continues to go well. The paint job on your husband’s car looks great. And, thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures. I’ve been to North Carolina once, Raleigh area, and it was gorgeous there. I loved it.

Thanks Jennielyse! The thing I love most about NC is it has it all–mountains, beaches, history, cities of all sizes. There’s something for everyone.

I moved to NC (RDU area) 7 years ago and love it. We are going into the 2 months of oven which are the ones I don’t like but it’s really nice this weekend with 80s and north winds. I loved A Rip Through Time.

What a coincidence! I spent all of last week writing about a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Oh I hope I get to read that! Was it in current times or a historical piece?

It takes place in 1967. The chapter is part of the new novel I’m working on.

Beautiful pictures! And yay for still losing weight! I’ve got to start dieting or exercising. I’m not doing great. And I spent like $600 on an exercise bike earlier this year, that when it arrived in April, I still haven’t used it. 😦 What a waste of money. Hope you have a good week!

It’s never too late to start. I’m finally listening to my doctor and taking small steps instead of trying to exercise too much for my current fitness level and getting burned out

Thanks. I love time travel books, but consequently I’m also harder on them in reviews than any other genre because it is my favorite and I have read some wonderful ones.

Thanks! He has always been able to teach himself things that like–car repairs, painting, home renovation–just by reading about it or watching a video. I’m very proud of him.

That garden looks nice. Do you has to rub q-tips in one flower and then another flower to get you squash to pollinate?
Have a great week.

Thanks. Fortunately, I have plenty of garden wasps, bees, etc. who take care of the pollination.

Your husband did an amazing job painting his car!
Blowing Rock is so beautiful. I was born and raised (and technically still live) in a little community north of Asheville. We’ve been traveling around the country with my husband’s job for over three years now though. We love our adventures but there’s really no place like home in the Blue Ridge.
Enjoy your week!
